I keep coming back to this and tried to establish what was making me come back to look at it over again. I guess it is probably I am seeing some symbolism and of course iconography messages employed with the balloon (yet it is in the shape of a heart) and the girl.

Now why am referring to the heart as an balloon. I guess the question remains that her heart perhaps is being ripped out of her soul and it is now becoming an external experience rather than love being an internal experience perhaps the interpretation could be looked at a different way.

Love hangs onto you like a piece of thread, it leaves you hanging in thin air and the piece yet reveals more about our selves particularly from a social historical perspective.

I am finding this piece to be quite surreal in its context. Well done, Bec. I think you should put this into the category Surrealism.

I've had this image in my mind for a while now, at least a few months, but I've only recently had time to sit down and make it. I guess the idea I wanted to portray is the idea of love sneaking up on you. One moment you're minding your own business and the next thing you know your heart is busting out of your chest with love. She's been completely swept off her feet in a whirlwind of emotions and she's just floating around until she comes back down again.

I suppose in a way it's a balloon. It's started me on a series, the heart on a string thing, portraying different kinds of love. I'm about to post the second one now. I hope you like that one too
